New Sam's Club Adds Value in Romeoville

ROMEOVILLE, Ill., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club will open its newest club at 460 S. Weber Road in Romeoville on Thursday, Oct. 3, following an 8 a.m. Grand Opening Ceremony. The membership warehouse club will give residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible savings on quality products.

"We've been amazed by the large amount of community support and encouragement, and we hope to return that same amount of support through the outstanding merchandise, value, and community involvement we're planning with our new Romeoville Sam's Club," said Manager Rico Cortez.

Sam's Club President and CEO Rosalind Brewer will speak at Thursday's ceremony, continuing a tradition of company founder Sam Walton to visit Sam's Clubs throughout the U.S.

"Sam's Club has been in Chicago and throughout the dynamic communities it encompasses for more than two decades, so we're proud to grow even more in this area with our new club," Brewer said. "This Grand Opening kicks off an aggressive month when Sam's Club will open eight new clubs throughout the U.S. We are excited to begin a month-long celebration in Romeoville."

Numerous local dignitaries also plan to be a part of the Grand Opening festivities, including Romeoville Mayor John Noak, Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings, and former Bear tight end Desmond Clark. Noak will speak at the Grand Opening ceremony Thursday morning, Jennings will sign autographs from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, and Clark will sign autographs from 5-7 p.m. Thursday

Club to Join 20 others in Chicago Area
The Romeoville club will become the 21^st Sam's Club in the Chicago area. There are 29 Sam's Clubs throughout the state, employing more than 4,000 associates. More than 150 new jobs were created by the new Romeoville Sam's Club.

"At Sam's Club, you can build a career out of the position you come in to apply for today," said Cortez, who has been with the company for nearly 13 years. "I started as an overnight stocker, and with hard work and dedication, I was promoted to assistant manager three years later. In fact, four of our current managers started as hourly associates."

The new Sam's Club features a shopper-friendly interior layout and measures approximately 136,000 square feet.
