New Survey Reveals 76 Percent Of American Men Think Excessive Sweating Is Embarrassing

TREVOSE, Pa., Sept. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Believe it or not, men struggle with body image issues – and they're fessing up about one in particular. A new survey commissioned by Certain Dri^® revealed that the vast majority (76%) of American men think excessive sweating is embarrassing, with almost half (44%) saying they think they sweat more than most people.

In fact, the survey, conducted by Nielsen, found that almost all men (93%) say they would do something to prevent or hide excessive sweating, with the top response being using extra deodorant or antiperspirant (61%). In addition, men said they would carry deodorant with them (52%); they would wear lightweight clothing (50%); or they would change their clothes more often (33%).

According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, an independent, non-profit global organization, about 3% of Americans suffer from hyperhidrosis, a medical condition that causes excessive sweating in the underarms and other places and can affect people's emotional, social and functional lives.
