New Video Released about the Foothill Gold Line Light Rail Extension from Glendora to Montclair

MONROVIA, Calif., Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority today released a new and informative video, entitled: "Connections: Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair - Where Will It Take You?" The video is available on the Authority's website and YouTube channel and highlights many of the points of interest available within a short walk, bike or bus ride from the future light rail stations along the 12.3-mile Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair. Destinations will include two dozen colleges, the Los Angeles County Fairplex, several outdoor recreation facilities, historical sites and museums, and retail and dining opportunities.

The Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair is currently undergoing advanced conceptual engineering, the final phase of work before the light rail project is ready for a design-build procurement. The six-station extension is estimated to cost $1.2 billion and the majority of the construction funding is anticipated to come from Measure M, a half-cent sales tax measure being placed on the November 2016 ballot by Los Angeles County Metro. If approved by voters in November, the Foothill Gold Line will be one of the first rail projects funded by the measure to break ground.

The Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair will add six new light rail stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair and expand opportunities for county residents, workers and visitors to travel to and from this area of the county and visit many regional and local points of interest.

About the Foothill Gold Line - The Foothill Gold Line is a two-segment, 12-station extension of the Metro Gold Line light rail system being overseen by the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority, an independent transportation planning and construction agency created in 1998 by the California State Legislature. The six station Pasadena to Azusa segment was fully funded by Measure R, and was completed on time and on budget. It opened for service in March 2016. The Construction Authority is currently undergoing advanced conceptual engineering for the $1.2 billion Glendora to Montclair segment and anticipates the majority of the needed funds will come from the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan (Measure M), a sales tax measure being placed on the November 2016 ballot. If approved by voters, the project would be ready to break ground as soon as the funding is available and will take about six years to complete.
