EAST HANOVER, N.J., March 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A new video series, Legends Remembered, pays tribute to Hall of Famer Yogi Berra and explores his storied career, enduring values, and deep faith.
Produced by Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark, the series debuts with an intimate conversation between Larry Berra, Yogi's eldest son, and Rev. Gabriel Costa, a Catholic priest and mathematics professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Rev. Costa, known for developing the first college-level Sabermetrics course, joins Berra at Gate of Heaven Cemetery—Yogi's final resting place—to reflect on his father's iconic baseball moments and faith-driven life.

A Hero Beyond the Game
Berra's influence extended far beyond the baseball diamond. In 2015, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, recognizing his contributions on and off the field. His service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, including participation in the D-Day invasion, earned him the Purple Heart. He also received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, celebrating his contributions to American society.
A Timely Tribute During Spring Training & Lent
The seven-episode series will be released weekly, aligning with the excitement of Spring Training and the reflective season of Lent. Created in celebration of the Catholic Church's Jubilee Year 2025 and the Archdiocese's "We Are His Witnesses" initiative, Legends Remembered intertwines faith, family values, and baseball history, offering an inspiring look at Berra's legacy.
