Luxury cement tile company in New York is announcing the launch of a new line of hand-made tile designed by award-winning architect Luca Andrisani
NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Cement Tile, a prominent luxury cement tile company based in New York, is announcing the launch of a new collection of hand-made tiles, named "Geometrika," designed by award-winning architect and designer Luca Andrisani.
Inspired in part by the often-abstract op art movement of the 1960s, Andrisani used overlapping geometric patterns of different colors to create a myriad of designs both nostalgic and modern. Utilizing those traits to appeal to multiple generations, the versatile collection will target both residential and commercial markets, including retail, and add to New York Cement Tile's growing selection of options.

The encaustic tiles are made individually by hand, and as such are unique from piece to piece. Artisans working on the tiles first fill a mold with a mineral pigment to create the color and pattern. They then add two layers of dried and humidified cement. The full mold is finally hydraulically pressed, and the tile is carefully removed from the mold for a curing process.
"As an architect, I have to visualize an image within a space and imagine what element of design can transform that space," Andrisani said. "For me, it's about telling a story through design and inspiring the viewer. When I was shown the process for this tile and saw them being handmade one by one, I realized there was a story in the creation of this tile as well. The quality and attention to detail in every single piece was inspiring to me as a designer."
In all, 19 designs are offered in Geometrika. In-stock varieties can be ordered online and will ship within 1-2 business days. Interested customers can order samples that are typically delivered within 2-5 business days. Due to the wide array of colors used and potential color combinations for the designs, New York Cement Tile is accepting custom requests.
"This collection that Luca has designed for us has a tremendously personal touch, and we want the options offered to reflect that," Rondel said.
