New York Comedy Film Festival (NYCFF) Announces Inaugural Event in 2026

Funny Films Finally Get Some Respect!

NEW YORK, March 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Comedy will have its very own film festival-and it's about time. At NYCFF, the laughs keep coming — on film, TV, digital, and more!

The inaugural New York Comedy Film Festival (NYCFF) will take over Asylum NYC (123 E. 24th Street) from February 15-22, 2026, showcasing a diverse lineup of comedy programming.

Founded by comedy and film industry veterans Norm Laviolette, Robert Melley, Steve Eliau, and Jess Domain, NYCFF celebrates both seasoned creators and emerging voices in comedy. "When things are going good, people want to laugh. When things are going bad, people NEED to laugh. NYCFF is a celebration of those who make us laugh and forget the chaos of the world, even if only for a moment," said Norm Laviolette, NYCFF CEO.

The festival will feature red carpet arrivals, world premiere film screenings, shorts program, tv pilots, original digital content, private parties and live performances including a special live celebrity table script read of a beloved comedy classic.

Asylum NYC, part of the Improv Asylum family, is the perfect venue for film screenings, live performances, and comedy parties. It features two theaters, a chic lobby bar, a live comedy stage, and a VIP podcast room, offering a fun and lively atmosphere for all events.
