In one accident, which took place in Brooklyn, a 59-year-old-man was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Police did not release the victim's name, but said that he was mowed down by a dark-colored sedan while he crossed Rockaway Parkway between Clarkson Ave. and Winthrop Street in Brownsville around 2:20 in the morning. He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital but could not be saved. Authorities are still looking for the driver. Just hours earlier, a 38-year-old woman was hit by a white 2000 Chevrolet Astro on Queens Boulevard in Forrest Hills around 10:40 p.m. police said. The driver stayed at the scene while the victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center where she was listed as being in critical condition.
