Authorities say that Aleim Perkins, 39, was aggressively spinning the tire swing in Tomkins Square Park on the Lower East side when it struck him in the face around 3:50 in the afternoon. According to the report he was knocked unconscious and was bleeding from his mouth. Mr. Perkins was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital, but medics were unable to save him. Mr. Perkins was visiting his niece at the time.
