New York Subs & Wings Broadens Employees' Horizons with a Weekend Getaway

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When holidays approach, while most employees are planning how they will spend their days off, fast food workers are not usually as lucky. This was not the case, however, for the employees of New York Subs and Wings who were treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to Naples, Florida, for the Memorial Day Weekend.

The group of nearly 13, who staff the New York Subs and Wings restaurant, 1388 E. Oakland Park Blvd., as well as the New York Subs and Wings food truck, located at 100 SW 6th St. in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, enjoyed a team dinner at Shula's Steakhouse followed by a stay at Ritz Carlton, Naples.

"Most of our staff members are young adults from minority groups who are not usually exposed to these kinds of experiences," said Miguel Pilgram, founder of the Pilgram Group, which operates the New York Subs and Wings restaurants. "It was a great experience for us to be able to reward their hard work and expose them to something new."

One of the Pilgram Group's primary goals through New York Subs and Wings is to invest in the community by employing and providing opportunities to young adults, especially minorities, within the surrounding areas. In addition to employing disadvantaged youth, the Pilgram Group also guarantees textbook stipends to full-time employees enrolled in college and making satisfactory progress towards a degree.

"We recognize that these kids need opportunities to better themselves, not only through employment, but also through education," said Pilgram. "Which is why we want to make it our mission to empower the youth that pass through our doors."
