Additionally, there was no automatic braking system that would have slowed the train down, nor was there any medical screening of the engineer that would have uncovered the disorder. The NTSB issued hundreds of pages condemning Metro-North for improper communication between workers, deteriorated parts of tracks, mismanaging workers, and generally ignoring safety concerns.
