NewPage Expands Blazer Digital Product Lineup

MIAMISBURG, Ohio, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NewPage Corporation (NewPage), a leading producer of digital coated papers, announces the expansion of its Blazer Digital^® economy digital coated paper line to include 70 lb. gloss and satin text in various digital press sizes. In addition, 12 x 18 four-tier skid packing is now available for Blazer Digital 80 and 100 lb. text and 80, 100 and 110 lb. cover.

Blazer Digital now offers the only lightweight coated digital grade available from a U.S. producer. "The addition of 70 lb. Blazer Digital is the perfect choice for end use applications where a lighter basis weight is desired, especially direct mail pieces that travel through the postal service and the cost is based on the weight per piece," said Dennis Essary, director, digital coated papers for NewPage.

The new Blazer Digital 70 lb. gloss and satin finishes are available in 12 x 18 and 13 x 19 cartons; and the HP 10000 size 29.5 x 20.75 packed in press ready skids. The product is regionally stocked and readily available to be mixed with other NewPage grades and shipped the same day they are ordered.

In addition, NewPage is the first coated paper manufacturer to offer and stock a 12 x 18 size in four-tier skid packing, providing more options for higher volume jobs moving from traditional offset to digital printing. Essary added, "Skid packing is more convenient for digital printers because they don't have to unwrap each ream and dispose of the ream wrap and cartons. And, our custom digital converting equipment has the ability to provide customers with the opportunity to order a special size of any of our digital papers in skids to better meet the needs of a particular job."

Blazer Digital is an economical, coated digital paper with weight and finish choices similar to conventional folio formats. It provides good performance on production color laser printers, HP Indigo printers and digital offset technologies. Blazer Digital now has the broadest basis weight offering:  80, 100, 110 and 130 lb. gloss and satin cover; and 70, 80 and 100 lb. gloss and satin text. And, it is an optical match to Anthem Plus^® folio sheets.
