The showcase highlights Dr. Jarstad as a "Leader in Laser Eye Surgery" and ranked him as one of the top 15 eye surgeons across the United States.
Board certification, scientific research, years in practice, recommendations by patients and other doctors nationwide were factored into the award selection and ranking. Dr. Jarstad was the first surgeon in Washington to perform cataract surgery without stitches and is the inventor of the Jarstad cataract surgery marker. He was among one of the first surgeons to perform LASIK in the United States starting in 1996. Dr. Jarstad is a graduate of Brigham Young University, UW School of Medicine, and the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Jarstad is passionate about supporting the latest advances in eye surgery techniques and has traveled to Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Egypt, Philippines, Indonesia and North Korea teaching eye surgery and donating his services on these missions.
