Nexant Supports Pacific Power in Electric Vehicle Grant Project as Third Party Evaluator

Grants available for California, Oregon, and Washington Pacific Power Non-Residential Customers

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Nexant is evaluating grant applications for electric vehicle (EV) charger projects at public, commercial, and industrial facilities in Pacific Power's California, Oregon, and Washington service areas. In a short 4-week turnaround in late 2018, Nexant partnered with Pacific Power to develop a custom grant review process based on Pacific Power's priorities, program eligibility requirements, and Nexant's experience with electric vehicle supply equipment.

Starting in January 2019, Nexant's team evaluated grant applications submitted by Pacific Power non-residential customers in Oregon during the Q4, 2018 solicitation period. Nexant will continue to manage the process throughout 2019 as additional grant cycles open to Pacific Power non-residential customers. Pacific Power approved six projects with a combined charging capacity of 227.4 kW from Level II chargers such as Blink, Tesla, and ChargePoint. Funding awards will cover up to 100 percent of the eligible costs to purchase and install charging stations. Projects were approved at a variety of facility types including a museum, hospital, visitor center, art gallery, library, hardware store, and general commercial offices.

The applications were evaluated on 25 sub-criteria under seven general criteria categories including the following:

value proposition to the utility
regulator requirements
equitable and reasonable use of funds
matches the purpose and intent of grant funding
beneficial to the community, environment, and general education
usefulness and accessibility of charger data.

Nexant uses a continuous improvement process to recommend application requirements, score criteria, further develop grant scoring rubric and weighting, increase client involvement, and ensure compliance with eligibility rules. Keeping customer service in mind, Nexant helped refine and streamline the grant application process to make it more accessible for Pacific Power non-residential customers.
