SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), today announced that Attorney Jessica Dominguez has been named the official Immigration Attorney for the NHCLC, bringing more than a decade of experience helping families stay together, know their rights and navigate the immigration system.
"Due to the uncertainty about future immigration policy, our member pastors across the country are asking what their churches can do to help families in their congregations that are constantly worried about what will happen next," said Rodriguez. "While we will be working on a national level to influence policies that will prevent this uncertainty, we want to give practical advice and tools to our people in the meantime."
The NHCLC is currently holding weekly phone calls with pastors and denominational leadership to answer questions about rights and options for both churches and the law-abiding immigrants to help keep their families together. Dominguez been a part of this effort since its inception and will now take on a more official role as Immigration Attorney.
"I look forward to continuing to collaborate with NHCLC, an organization that is committed to advocacy for social justice and immigration reform on behalf of hard working immigrants that protects the sanctity of families," said Dominguez. "Throughout the years, the Evangelical Church has played a pivotal role in shaping the history of our nation. I look forward to working with pastors and their churches to assist them in their calling to protect the sanctity of millions of families. Keeping immigrant workers and parents informed about their rights and teaching them how to protect those rights will empower them in their daily pursuit of keeping their families together."
Dominguez was born in Peru and has lived in the United States since she was 14. She received her undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and her JD degree with honors from the University of Verne College of Law. She founded the Law Offices of Attorney Jessica Dominguez in 2002 with the mission of keeping families together by giving them tools and resources to navigate the immigration system.
