Niner Wine Estates Unveils New Landscaping
Over 70,000 sq. feet of seating and newly planted oak & olive trees
PASO ROBLES, Calif., Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Niner Wine Estates has just completed a year and a half long landscaping project designed to expand their tasting spaces & reduce outdoor irrigation needs. The project increased the usable size of their grounds and added an awning to their existing restaurant patio for year-round use. The project also included planting six new oak trees, twelve olive trees and an assortment of other drought-tolerant plants.
"The goal of this project was to create more usable space for both our tasting room & restaurant," owner Andy Niner says. "We were able to achieve both goals and also set ourselves up to reduce irrigation needs by over half in the next few years which made it a total success."
The marquee of the project is a new corridor of olive trees that frame Heart Hill, the oak-grove shaped like a Heart that has been a landmark in Paso Robles since the early 1950s. This striking vista was conceptualized by Arcadia Studios and executed by Fortini Landscapes. The winery has the option to float string lighting above the grove at nighttime to use for outdoor dinners & private events.
This recent project was the second half of a larger plan that included adding a 4,000 sq. foot Estate Garden at the beginning of 2016. The garden is managed by staff on-site and is planted to supply their restaurant with seasonal produce, herbs, edible flowers & more.
The completion of the landscaping project came on the heels of the winery's recent award as the first ever SIP (Sustainability in Practice) Certified Winery. Niner has incorporated sustainable measures into their approach to farming, building design and operations since their inception and recently converted their LEED Silver Certified Buildings to Solar Power in 2015.
