Nonprofit nets over $1 million by hosting the world's largest duck race.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Great American Merchandise and Events (GAME), is excited to announce that their client, the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati, raised over $1 million during their Rubber Duck Regatta held on August 31, 2014. The Rubber Duck Regatta has been using GAME's signature Derby Duck® race as a fundraiser for 20 years.
This is the first time in history that GAME's signature event, the Derby Duck® race, has netted an organization over $1 million. This also marks the largest amount the Rubber Duck Regatta has raised for the Freestore Foodbank since its first GAME Derby Duck® race in 1995, as well as the largest amount raised by a GAME client.
"Nearly 100,000 children in our Tri-State area may not know from where their next meal is coming," said Bob Edwards, Cincinnati Rubber Duck Regatta Founder and Chair. "The tremendous support of the Greater Cincinnati community through our 20th Annual Rubber Duck Regatta will help provide three million meals to hungry children and their families."
"This is a huge accomplishment from one of the hardest working organizations hosting a GAME Derby Duck® race. GAME has created an effective fundraiser for causes of all types to increase funds and awareness. At GAME we want our Derby Duck race and Turbo Turtle® races to be the signature event for our partners," said Eric Schechter, CEO of GAME.
To date, the Freestore Foodbank has raised approximately $8.3 million, the equivalent of more than 24 million meals for hungry children and families, through the Rubber Duck Regatta. The Freestore Foodbank's regatta is the largest, most successful duck race in the world.
