Nonprofits Looking for Fundraising Head to Web Design Company's Facebook

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Jan. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Facebook and Twitter aren't just used for networking; One Florida company is using social media for some social good.

The holidays mark the biggest season for fundraising for charities and nonprofits, but with the season of giving put behind us, most organizations are seeing a drop in donations with people suffering from a holiday hangover. 352 Media Group is giving away $1,000 to the one lucky charity or nonprofit organization that can garner up the most votes on 352 Media's Facebook page by the end of January if the web design company hits 5,000 fans.

"Not only will a deserving group get much-needed funding, but several other groups will increase their awareness. And we come out of it with a larger network for our company to market to."

Any nonprofit and charitable organization in the United States is eligible for the donation, and users can vote for one they are involved with or one that they really respect. Votes count as a wall post with the organization you recommend, a concurring comment on a post, or even a like on someone else's wall post. Only one vote will be counted per person, so users are left to market themselves, spreading the word through their different channels to get as many people as possible to go vote.

So far, about a dozen groups have entered this philanthropic giveaway, including the Children's Miracle Network of Northeast Florida, Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation, Children's Home Society of Florida, YMCA, Forsaken Generation in New York, and Spartanburg Charter School in South Carolina.
