The prestigious award recognizes attorneys for significant accomplishments and achievements in the practice of law, for outstanding contributions to legal practice in Michigan and for having set an example for other lawyers.

He has tried a wide variety of jury trials including shareholder actions, contract disputes, employment matters, civil rights and professional liability to conclusion. And he has successfully defended and resolved major class action suits in both state and federal court.
Lippitt represents some of the nation's largest corporations, many privately held businesses and notable individuals. Lippitt is a graduate of the Detroit College of Law, now the Michigan State University College of Law, where in 1998 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree for his long-standing service to the school. A former vice president of the Michigan State University College of Law's board of trustees, he was named a Trustee Emeritus in 2010.
