As part of Northwest Bank's continued expansion in Central Ohio, the North High Street financial center reflects the bank's commitment to investing in neighborhoods where people live, work and learn. Located next to The Ohio State University's Columbus campus, the design of the new financial center was shaped through student research and feedback focused on what they would want to see in the space. The result is a welcoming environment where students can drop in between classes, meet with a banker, study or connect with others in the community.
"Today's customers want more than a place just to complete transactions. They want trusted guidance, meaningful relationships, and the flexibility to bank how and when they choose," said Urich Bowers, chief consumer banking and strategy officer for Northwest Bank. "We designed this financial center with the surrounding community in mind, including OSU students preparing for their futures, young professionals establishing financial independence, and local business owners seeking personalized support. We want this to be a place where people feel welcome, comfortable, and empowered to reach their financial goals."
The North High Street location was intentionally chosen for its proximity to one of the nation's largest university campuses (by student enrollment), recognizing the important financial milestones students and recent graduates experience throughout their college life and beyond as they begin their career journeys.
Northwest used insights from its research to help inform its student-focused financial products and to shape the physical space, including flexible tables, Wi-Fi capabilities, charging access and a study room.
The financial center also features coffee from local nonprofit partner Roosevelt Coffee Roasters, in keeping with Northwest's focus on partnering with organizations in the communities it serves, and creating a welcoming hospitality-focused environment. Roosevelt's mission to bring communities closer to the resources that they need to live aligns with Northwest's commitment to helping individuals, businesses, and communities thrive.
Outside of the financial center, Northwest is developing a partnership with OSU's Fisher College of Business through internships and career development opportunities. This past summer, 13 Ohio State students participated in Northwest's paid summer internship program, gaining real-world experience, mentorship and exposure to a variety of career paths, while helping them prepare for successful transitions from college to the workplace.
The North High Street financial center is part of Northwest Bank's continued investment in Central Ohio. Following the opening of its New Albany location, Northwest recently announced plans to move its Central Ohio headquarters to Dublin in 2029. Additional financial centers in Columbus and Gahanna will open later in the year, with a Westerville location set to open early 2027.
