Northwest Side Housing Center and Microsoft Develop Innovative HUD-Approved Client Management System
Microsoft Dynamics CMS enables better management of client data and measurement of long-term outcomes
Support from Ocwen critical to finalizing the initiative
CHICAGO, Feb. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwest Side Housing Center (NWSHC), a community-based U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) certified non-profit organization, today announced the launch of Microsoft Dynamics CMS, a new and innovative HUD-approved Client Management System developed by Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) in conjunction with NWSHC. Microsoft Dynamics CMS will enable NWSHC and other HUD-certified Housing Counseling Agencies (HCAs) to better track and manage client data and measure long-term outcomes.
"The non-profit housing counseling environment is constantly changing, and it is extremely difficult for HCAs to track client data," commented James Rudyk, Jr., NWSHC's Executive Director. "NWSHC is no exception, having experienced difficulties in tracking, accessing, and recording client data, we were determined to design a more effective system."
In response to this challenge, Mr. Rudyk approached Microsoft to support the design, build, and implementation of a fully customizable and editable client management system to track all NWSHC's client level data. Microsoft agreed to build and customize the database through the company's OneWeek Initiative.
Microsoft Dynamics CMS was completed in early 2016, however ongoing support was needed to finalize features, train team members, and have the database approved by HUD. Through a collaboration with Ocwen Financial Corporation (Ocwen), Ocwen committed financial support to help NWSHC finalize the initiative. This included the customization of the database, moving it through HUD's certification process, and making Microsoft Dynamics CMS available to all HUD HCAs throughout the country.
In December 2017, with guidance and approval from HUD, NWSHC launched Microsoft Dynamics CMS – making it the first fully customizable HUD-approved client management system. The system is now capable of generating customized reports to track client outcomes, measure client long-term success, and provide data visualization tools to better explain HUD housing counseling outcomes.
"The public-private collaboration between NWSHC, Microsoft, and Ocwen represents a smart, cost-effective, and innovative solution to the many challenges impacting the HCA community," added Mr. Rudyk.
