Not All Calories Are Created Equally

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the rates of obesity in the United States have skyrocketed since the introduction of high fructose corn syrup in 1970. In that time, obesity rates have gone from 15 percent of the U.S. population to roughly one-third.

A new study published in the journal Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior by researchers at Princeton University found that rats with access to high fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same.
