WASHINGTON, July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Census Bureau is now accepting applications for approximately 125 temporary positions that will support the address canvassing operation for the 2018 End-to-End Census Test in the Bluefield-Beckley-Oak Hill, W.Va., area.
Address canvassing will allow the Census Bureau the opportunity to conduct the process of building its 2020 Census address list across a wide area of physical geography, housing structures and residence types. An updated address list will help ensure an accurate and complete count for the nation in 2020.
The test area includes approximately 175,000 housing units throughout Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming counties. Data gathered from the test area will provide insight to guide planning to ensure an accurate census in 2020. As 2020 Census operations move forward, the Census Bureau will continue to improve the use of mobile technology, administrative records, innovations from the geospatial industry, and internet self-response.
Recruiting sessions are currently being held, and work assignments will start in August. The hourly rate for census workers is $13.25. For census field supervisors, the rate is $16.25/hour.
