NORMAL, Ill., Aug. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On the former Motel 6 location at 202 Landmark Drive, a new 9,000 sf Portillo's opened today (Tuesday, August 15th at 10:30 a.m.) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dick Portillo and Normal Mayor, Chris Koos.
This site is a natural fit for Portillo's - a perfect mix of residential and student community. Construction included new site utilities, asphalt paving, and site improvements. This new Portillo's is a precast structure with brick features, architectural steel elements and a theme that highlights the 1920s Prohibition era that will include photos of Chicago-based gangsters, such as Al Capone and a vintage car suspended from the ceiling. It will offer more than 200 seats, a patio that is full timber construction with a standing seam roof and double drive-through lanes. Novak's Restaurant Division VP and Portillo's Project Director, Dan Moriarity, noted, "We are honored to be part of bringing over 200 full- and part-time jobs to the Normal community."
This is Novak's 6th successful on-time completion for Portillo's. Construction is currently underway in Fishers, IN (September 2017) as well.
