WASHINGTON, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Charles T. Drevna, president of NPRA, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, welcomed the House Energy and Commerce Committee vote today that approved legislation to require a final State Department decision by Nov. 1 on whether the Keystone XL pipeline can be built to transport oil from Western Canada to U.S. refineries.
"Today's bipartisan vote is an important step forward to maintain and strengthen America's national and economic security. The pipeline would bring American refineries crude oil from our close neighbor and ally Canada and reduce our nation's need for oil from unstable regions of world.
"The Keystone XL pipeline would help U.S. refiners serve the American people by providing the refiners with a sure and stable source of oil needed to manufacture gasoline, diesel and other fuels. The pipeline would also provide desperately needed jobs for American workers."
