NRMP Publishes New Interactive Data Tools for Main Residency Match Applicants
Data tools complement comprehensive Charting Outcomes in the Match and Results of the 2018 Program Director Survey.
WASHINGTON, July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP®) is pleased to announce the availability of two new data tools for applicants participating in the Main Residency Match®. The Interactive Charting Outcomes in the Match allows applicants to compare their personal characteristics with those of prior year applicants who did and did not match to their preferred specialties (the specialty ranked first on the applicant's rank order list). The At-A-Glance Program Director Survey includes charts and data tables that capture specialty-specific program director feedback on the criteria used to select applicants to interview and rank.

Both tools complement the complete Charting Outcomes in the Match and Results of the 2018 Program Director Survey published earlier this month. About The Match Process
Applicants submit to the NRMP their rank order lists of preferred programs, and program directors rank applicants in order of preference for training applicants. The NRMP uses a computerized mathematical algorithm to match applicants with programs using the preferences expressed on their ranked lists. Research on the NRMP algorithm was a basis for awarding The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel in 2012.
