NSBA Elects Chris Holman of Michigan 2012 Chair

WASHINGTON, Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Small Business Association (NSBA) last week held their annual meeting where long-time small-business advocate and NSBA board member Chris Holman of Lansing, Mich. was elected 2012 NSBA Chair. A well-known entrepreneur, media personality and business owner in Michigan and across the country, Holman currently is the president and CEO of both The Greater Lansing Business Monthly magazine and the new radio broadcast company, The Michigan Business Network.com.

"He has dedicated his entire career to helping foster entrepreneurship and will infuse NSBA's ongoing work to better the American small-business community with the excitement and passion he brings to all his endeavors."

Holman is a past chair of NSBA-affiliate group, the Small Business Association of Michigan, and in 2006 was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm as Michigan's Small Business Advocate where he served as a liaison between the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and small business owners and organizations across the state. He was Dean at Lansing Community College in charge of the entrepreneurial curriculum and work force development, and has hosted various TV and radio shows focusing on Michigan business.

Throughout his involvement with NSBA, Holman has pushed for a national meeting of small business in-line with a White House Conference on Small Business. He also has been a staunch advocate for access to capital issues and regulatory and taxation fairness. Holman will take over for Larry Nannis of Needham, Mass., who led NSBA through ongoing and significant challenges to the U.S. economy.

In addition to naming Holman chair, NSBA elected seven other small-business owners to serve as the executive leadership in 2012, and appointed several new trustees to the organization. The 2012 leadership and trustees will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2012 and will continue working toward key NSBA priorities including: reducing the national deficit, enhancing small-business access to capital, addressing health care costs, reducing the federal regulatory burden and repealing onerous mandates such as the health insurance tax.
