NSFOCUS Researchers Win Microsoft Mitigation Bypass Bounty Award for Second Consecutive Year
Researchers Yunhai Zhang and Chen Zhang Recognized for Quality Security Research by Microsoft and Google Rewards Programs
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As cybercriminals and hackers continue to launch fresh DDoS attacks, NSFOCUS research teams are constantly identifying new attack techniques and strategies, a vital part of threat mitigation process. NSFOCUS announced today that 10-year security research veteran Yunhai Zhang was rewarded $75,000 from the Microsoft Mitigation Bypass program. Additionally, researcher Chen Zhang obtained more than ten acknowledgements in 2014 from Google and Microsoft for his efforts to identify vulnerabilities.
In recent years, NSFOCUS researchers have been awarded multiple acknowledgements from renowned companies such as Microsoft and Google, indicating the company's prowess in attack protection research.
- The Microsoft Mitigation Bypass Bounty (MBB) - Launched in June 2013, Microsoft MBB pays up to $100,000 for innovative exploitation techniques against protections built into the latest version of its operating system. Learning about such exploitation techniques in advance helps Microsoft improve its system security.
- 10-year NSFOCUS senior research veteran Yunhai Zhang holds the distinction of being the only individual to be awarded a mitigation bypass reward in 2014. The recognition makes NSFOCUS the only security company worldwide to win this bounty for two consecutive years.
- Google Vulnerability Reward Program (VRP) was developed to maintain close relationships with the security research community and to honor all the cutting-edge external contributions that help keep its users safe.
- Senior researcher Chen Zhang participated in identifying vulnerabilities for both Microsoft and Google and received a combined 14 acknowledgments in 2014.
