BROOKLYN, Mich., May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Across the country, millions of fathers are honored each June with cookouts, cards and family time. This Father's Day, June 19, NSK and the VFW Foundation (Veterans of Foreign Wars) are paying tribute to the thousands of families whose patriarch is currently stationed overseas and the growing population of veterans who have sacrificed time with their families to serve our country.
NSK and VFW Foundation are presenting a unique online contest with Michigan International Speedway® (MIS). Military fathers and their friends and family can visit www.MISpeedway.com/militaryfathers to share their stories of dedication and commitment to our country.
Fifty grand prize winners will each receive a Salute to Military Fathers ticket package to the June 19 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Heluva Good!® Sour Cream Dips 400 at MIS. Winners will include military fathers and their families along with active-duty and retired military personnel and their fathers.
The contest will conclude June 1, 2011, with winners being announced June 2. All winners will be posted at www.MISpeedway.com/militaryfathers.
NSK Corporation, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., partnered with MIS to launch the Military Friends and Family program in 2007. As the program grows, NSK continues to be a supporting sponsor.
"It's been a pleasure to be able to offer a day of enjoyment and entertainment to military members and their families -- especially when they are NASCAR fans," said Tony Martell, VP and GM of Aftermarket Business Unit, NSK Corporation. "The response we have gotten from previous attendees is amazing. We look forward to participating each year to provide a unique and enjoyable experience to those who deserve it most."
Along with the 50 grand prize winners and their guests, the VFW Foundation and NSK will host over 300 guests as part of the Salute to Military Fathers program at MIS. Winners and guests will enjoy complimentary pre-race hospitality, pit tours, celebrity appearances, pre-race ceremonies and grandstand tickets to the Heluva Good!® Sour Cream Dips 400.
To show their appreciation to military families, Miss Sprint Cup; David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing; and NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and veteran Bud Moore are all scheduled to visit the Salute to Military Fathers hospitality tent.
The VFW Foundation returns for its third year supporting the Salute to Military Fathers program, which is an extension of the VFW's Return the Favor campaign: www.ReturnTheFavor.org.
MIS is also accepting photos of military fathers and their families. Simply e-mail your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos submitted are for future use only and do not increase your chances of being selected as a winner of the Salute to Military Fathers Contest.
