NSK Supports Classrooms in Venezuelan Hospitals for Low Income Children

MIAMI, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sick children not only need medical treatment, they need an education while receiving care. Forty-six children, from hospitals in Porlamar City and Caracas, Venezuela were visited in late May by a team from NSK Latin America (NSK) bringing with them a vast array of educational materials, supplies and caring.

"There is so much need for help in Latin America," says NSK's Debbie Figueroa. "We started by researching where we believed we could make the biggest difference and learned about the lack of educational materials for children while they are in hospital."

Figueroa and the NSK team believed in the great medical care being provided very ill children at Hospital Dr. Luis Ortega (Porlamar City) and the Instituto Oncologico Dr. Luis Razetti (Caracas) but knew these hospitals needed a little help. When the team got the opportunity to sing, play games, face paint and interact with the families of children ranging in age from months old to early teens, they quickly learned how impactful their contribution would be.

"We experienced two full days of joy and were able to bring smiles to the faces of very sick children from families with limited income. We will keep looking after these programs and continuing our support," adds Figueroa.

Some of the donated items which will last for several months included: didactic games, stationery, books, paper, molding clay, paints and brushes, pens, puzzles, colouring books, glue and more.
