Numerex Acquires New Technical Capabilities with AVIDwireless

ATLANTA, Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Numerex Corp (NASDAQ: NMRX), a leading provider of on-demand and interactive machine-to-machine (M2M) enterprise solutions, announced today the purchase of the assets and business of AVIDwireless, including intellectual property and know-how, that will support the development of Numerex next-generation M2M platforms and managed services.

AVIDwireless established a solid reputation in the M2M industry with regard to innovative and carrier-grade engineering solutions to enterprise. Customers served by AVIDwireless typically require rapid development of mobile and M2M applications to manage complex, interdependent multi-device industrial M2M deployments, which need on-site intelligence and equipment management as well as reporting, alerting, and alarming protocols.

Ease-of-use and rapid deployment are key attributes of AVIDwireless development initiatives that are provided through plug-and-play wireless remote control and monitoring solutions. These include smart devices, such as the intelligent wireless controller AVIDdirector®, integrated with the flexible AVIDdirector M2M Application Framework, and are ideally suited for a variety of Numerex managed services programs. Also, Numerex will benefit from a mature and proven set of embedded hardware and software platforms that are both versatile and robust, with a track record of successful technical execution spanning many years.

The acquisition of AVIDwireless will have minimal financial impact to Numerex in the first year of operations. In addition to intellectual property and know-how, the Company received AVIDwireless's product lines, certain prior art, and several customer contracts.
