Nusta Spa Reopens After Renovations
Nation's First Certified Eco-Friendly Spa is Greener than Ever
WASHINGTON, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Nusta Spa (www.nustaspa.com), the nation's first certified eco-friendly day spa, has reopened its doors after interior renovations, additions to the menu of services, and a newly-formulated product line.
Since opening in 2004, Nusta has sought to maintain its position as a pioneer in environmental leadership. Today, Nusta remains the first spa in the country and the only spa in the Washington, DC area to achieve Gold level LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the recognized standard for measuring sustainable construction.
With recent interior improvements such as Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood flooring, recycled bamboo furnishings, and more energy efficient lighting, Nusta is greener than ever.
Owners, Tonia Briscoe, Brad Drummer and Elizabeth Snowdon, share a common vision to offer first-rate spa services in a healthy environment.
"Our goal is to offer natural products and quality services that rival the highest-end hotel spas," explains Snowdon. "The key, however, is delivering these services with as little negative impact on the planet as possible."
Organic products have always been popular at Nusta, however, the spa now offers its own private label skincare line, which includes natural ingredients such as Sedona mud, seaweed, and marine algae. Nusta's Full Body Detox and SilkPeel Facial, two of the newest service offerings, rely on these products to hydrate and smooth the skin.
Briscoe, a licensed aesthetician explains, "The skin is sensitive to irritants and allergens, which is why we focus on organic skincare. Nusta's private line was formulated to promote healthy skincare using organic cosmetic ingredients."
In addition to the interior enhancements and new menu offerings, Nusta's brand has also undergone a change, trading its former colors of blue and silver for a warmer palette of green and gold to better coincide with its dedication to the environment.
"Nusta enjoys strong brand recognition," said Drummer. "But with our latest developments throughout the spa, we wanted our colors to better reflect what defines Nusta--a green spa with gold-standard services and Gold LEED certification."
After more than a year of improvement planning and renovations, the 5,000 square foot spa is now open Monday-Friday, 10am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm, and Sunday 10am to 6pm.
