NutriBullet Announces the Winners of The NutriLiving UNI Project To Help School Children Develop Healthy Eating Habits

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NutriBullet, LLC., a premiere health and wellness brand and creator of the NutriBullet – a high-performance nutrition extractor – announced today the winners of The NutriLiving UNI Project to educate school children on the importance of developing healthy eating habits. Of the 75 applicants, NutriBullet selected five schools to receive $10,000 in fresh produce, NutriBullet units, The NutriLiving UNI Project classroom guidelines and materials needed to set up their own classroom smoothie or "Blast Bar."

Each applicant was asked to submit a video showing why their school should win and how their students would benefit from the program. The winning schools best explained their need to educate students on how to make healthier choices and why proper nutrition is important to them. The winners of the NutriLiving UNI Project contest are: Seward Middle School, in Seward AK; El Verano Elementary, Sonoma, CA; Marina Del Rey Middle School, Los Angeles, CA; Lecanto Primary, Lecanto, FL; and River Road High School, Amarillo, TX.

The NutriLiving UNI Project aims to give schools across the country a chance to learn and implement healthy eating habits through hands-on food preparation using fresh produce and the NutriBullet. The campaign is modeled after the original UNI Project, in which NutriBullet sent a Registered Dietitian to University High School (UNI) in Los Angeles, to work with 46 students. Over the course of 90 days, students learned the importance of maximizing their intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, and began teaching others the importance of a healthy diet. Statistical data also revealed reduced cholesterol levels, decreased waist circumference, and clear skin.
