FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nutrisystem, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRI), the number one home delivery weight loss company, announced today that CEO and Chairman Joe Redling will serve as the 2011 Philadelphia Step Out Walk Co-Chair alongside Nutrisystem D spokesperson, admired sports legend and civic leader, Billie Jean King. To celebrate the collaboration, the Company will hold the 2011 Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes CEO Corporate Recruitment Breakfast on April 13th, 2011, at the offices of law firm Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young in Philadelphia. The invitation-only breakfast will serve as the official kickoff to this year's Step Out Walk, uniting thousands to change the future of diabetes.
Nutrisystem and King have worked collectively to help raise diabetes awareness since the inception of Nutrisystem D, a weight loss program specifically designed for people with type-2 diabetes who want to lose weight. Confirmed corporate attendees include: Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Independence Blue Cross, Keystone Mercy Health Plan, Cozen O'Connor, Accenture, KPMG and Conestoga Bank.
"At Nutrisystem, we're dedicated to doing our part in the fight against diabetes and empowering Americans to prevent and manage this debilitating disease," said Joe Redling, Chairman and CEO of Nutrisystem. "We also believe in giving back to the communities in which we do business, in significant and meaningful ways. Last year, our employees launched an inspiring campaign that raised over $65,000 for the Step Out Walk, and we look forward to achieving even greater results this year."
During the breakfast, attendees will hear from leaders of the American Diabetes Association on how their companies can:
- Learn. Find out what steps your company can take to help raise awareness and prevent diabetes.
- Act. Join the walk on October 1st as a VIP Corporate Team and raise donations.
- Win. The first five VIP Corporate Step Out teams who raise more than $10,000 will be awarded a free ADA Winning At Work on-site diabetes education seminar for employees.
