Ob Hospitalist Group Provides New Emergency OB/GYN Services

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., May 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Ob Hospital Group (OBHG) is proud to announce the opening of a new, 24-hour Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA. This new service is a result of a partnership between St. Bernardine and OBHG that ensures highly-skilled, Board Certified OB/GYN physicians (hospitalists) are on-site at St. Bernardine 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

While many obstetricians divide their time between their office and the hospital, this program features hospital-based doctors focused solely on providing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit, as well as those facing emergency situations. These doctors will provide enhanced coverage and a critical safety net to OB/GYNs in the community.

Hospitalist care is a growing trend nationwide that helps increase access to specialists and improves patient outcomes. This program will make St. Bernadine among the first hospitals in the Inland Empire to offer 24/7 in-house obstetrics with Board Certified OB/GYN physicians. The OBED is staffed and managed by the Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG), headquartered in Mauldin, SC and provides physician support and emergent care to all women presenting to St. Bernardine's Labor and Delivery department or Emergency Room.   In addition, the Board Certified OB/GYN Hospitalists will:

• Work with each woman's physician to provide 24/7 care to both mother and baby
• Provide rapid response for emergency care
• Ensure consistent care for unassigned and uninsured patients
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals within the hospital, including medical and surgical consultants, maternal-fetal medicine, lactation consultants, social workers, and more.
