Ohio Aerospace Institute Secures Business Management Role in NASA's One Stop Shopping Initiative

CLEVELAND, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) was recently awarded a $2.6 million five-year cooperative agreement with NASA to provide business management support in connection with its One Stop Shopping Initiative (OSSI).

The OSSI will provide an agency-wide integrated system for undergraduate and graduate students applying for a NASA internship or fellowship. OAI will support a NASA-wide integrated recruitment, application, selection, placement and career development system for student engagement in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) research, aerospace education and space exploration.

"The OSSI will give students a clear pathway to access the full universe of opportunities for internships, scholarships and fellowships offered by NASA nationwide, and ultimately support our nation's science and technology workforce needs," said Ann Heyward, OAI vice president of research and educational programs. "OAI is proud to play a key role in the development of the system in partnership with NASA and its strategic partners and is excited to see the impact this initiative will have on NASA and America's technology workforce."  

In addition, OAI will market programs nationwide through partnerships with the Broker Facilitator Corps. The Broker Facilitator Corps are organizations chosen by NASA to implement recruitment, retention and career development strategies that broaden the diversity of institutions and individuals applying for NASA internships and fellowships. The organizations place special emphasis on underrepresented students.
