BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Dec. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OHL, a leading global third party logistics (3PL) company, announced that it received notice from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that they are now a validated member of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.
OHL submitted a security plan in 2013 to CBP and became C-TPAT certified while awaiting validation. The entire validation process is very rigorous and includes the vetting of OHL customers and vendors. The final step in the process was when OHL's Laredo, Texas and Ontario, Canada locations were validated by site visits from CBP.

C-TPAT is a voluntary government-business initiative that builds cooperative relationships that strengthen and improve overall international supply chain and U.S. border security. C-TPAT is widely recognized as one of the most effective means of providing the highest level of cargo security through close cooperation with international supply chain businesses. Through this initiative, CBP asks that businesses ensure the integrity of their security practices and communicate and verify the security guidelines of their business partners within the supply chain.
Until January 2012, 3PLs were not allowed into the C-TPAT program and CBP touted many benefits to membership participation.
