Old Bridge Cellars Expands Into New Zealand and Italy
NAPA, Calif., Jan 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Old Bridge Cellars is pleased to announce its expansion into New Zealand and Italy with the introduction of Greywacke and Poggiotondo to the US market. As of January 1, 2012, Old Bridge Cellars has undertaken all US sales, marketing and PR activities on behalf of the wineries, who join the established portfolio of artisanal, family wineries.
Established in 2009, Greywacke is the Marlborough label of Kevin Judd, one of the region's most acclaimed winemakers whose name is intrinsically linked with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc since he started in 1983 as the founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay. Named after New Zealand's prolific bedrock, Greywacke's core offerings include a Sauvignon Blanc (SRP $19.99), 'Wild Sauvignon' (SRP $29.99) and Pinot Noir (SRP $39.99).
Poggiotondo founder and winemaker Alberto Antonini is a scholar of modern winemaking. Having studied and worked in wine regions around the world, he crafts modern Tuscan wines. The core offerings include a Bianco Toscana IGT (SRP $12.00) and Rosso Toscana IGT (SRP $12.00), as well as the Cerro Del Massi Chianti DOCG (SRP $15.99), Chianti Superiore DOCG (SRP $19.99) and the increasingly popular white variety, Vermentino (SRP $19.99). Alberto will also be making available limited amounts of his Reserve tier wines.
"While we remain committed to providing Australia's best regional wines, we see the marketplace interest of extending our philosophy to other world-class wine-producing regions around the globe," said Rob Buono, President, Old Bridge Cellars. "Whether from Australia, New Zealand or elsewhere, our focus is to provide the US market with compelling wines from passionate winemakers."
"Both Kevin's and Alberto's wines demonstrate all the things we look for in a winery," adds Gavin Speight, Wine and Marketing Director, Old Bridge Cellars. "They are authentic representations of a sense of place. Overall, they are impressive wines that we're excited to be making available in the US."
Throughout the coming months, Old Bridge Cellars will be working closely with its distribution partners to provide a national footprint for Greywacke and Poggiotondo.
