OLI Systems Releases Version 12.5 with Modular Sub Flowsheets, Expanded Corrosion Modeling and Enhanced Chemistry Data

The update introduces three main capabilities designed to improve accuracy and efficiency in process modeling: sub flowsheets, additional alloys in the MSE corrosion framework and a significantly expanded chemistry database.

Sub flowsheets in OLI Flowsheet: ESP allows engineers to embed smaller, reusable models within larger simulations. This modular approach is designed to simplify large flowsheets while improving solver performance and supporting standardization across projects. "Sub flowsheets enable engineering teams to build once and reuse everywhere," said Dr. Susanna Holt, Chief Technology Officer at OLI. "This reduces the effort of rebuilding common sections, improves convergence, and ensures consistent modeling practices across global teams."

Corrosion prediction has also been extended. The MSE corrosion framework, introduced in V12, now covers five additional alloys: martensitic stainless steels S13Cr, S15Cr, and S17Cr, austenitic stainless steel 316, and nickel-base Alloy 625. This expansion allows engineers to simulate material performance in CO₂-rich, sour, and high-temperature environments that previously required assumptions or approximations.

The chemistry database has been broadened with hundreds of new species. Key additions include monoethylene glycol (MEG) for upstream oil and gas, H₂, N₂, CO, O₂, Ar, and light hydrocarbon interactions with CO₂, H₂O, H₂SO₄, and HNO₃ for CCUTS, thiosulphuric acid and calcium malate for refining, antimony sulfide for geothermal scaling and new data for cobalt, lithium and RRE in recycling and recovery processes.
