OMNIMETRIX Highlights Mobile Generator Monitoring At The 2013 CTIA Tradeshow
BUFORD, Ga., May 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OMNIMETRIX, LLC, an Acorn Energy company (NASDAQ: ACFN), will feature its new 4G cellular G8700 Low-Power Mobile Generator Monitoring System and will introduce new Data Integration capabilities at the CTIA 2013™ tradeshow (Booth #2761-Tower Summit Pavilion), May 21-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The G8700, the newest system in the OMNIMETRIX product line, is a valuable tool to mobile generator fleet owners and cellular carriers who rely on mobile systems for emergency backup power.
"Cellular operators commonly own fleets of mobile generators that are dispatched to cell tower sites as needed when power failures occur. These machines are stored in geographically diverse locations with the expectation that they will be functional and ready for use when needed," said Harold Jarrett, Chief Technology Officer at OMNIMETRIX. "Unfortunately, the emergency dispatch of the machines is often complicated by dead starting batteries, empty fuel tanks or even missing machines. The OMNIMETRIX G8700 monitoring system is designed specifically for this application, providing key status information to the operator." Unique to the G8700 model is its extremely low power draw, less than 60 microamps, which is lower than the self-discharge rate of the battery itself.
"In addition to testing and reporting battery readings, the unit delivers regularly scheduled GPS locations along with location alerts triggered by movement of the machine," adds Jarrett.
OMNIMETRIX now offers the ability to integrate our monitored generator system data into third party applications to create a unified monitoring solution. Chief Information Officer at OMNIMETRIX, Chris Gropp said, "These industry leading data integration processes are configured for each customer's needs, utilizing secure, real-time data transport via web services, SFTP or any other means requested by our clients."
"All cellular companies consider network reliability to be one of its most important measures of performance. As was seen in the Hurricane Sandy episode, widespread power failure represents a serious risk to the network. Given that some 95% of generator failures come from consumables such as fuel, battery, oil, coolant and other basic alarm conditions, all of which are easily monitored, the use of remote monitoring for failure prevention is a solution whose time is now," added Deena Redding, President & CEO of OMNIMETRIX.
