LOS ANGELES, April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Having seen great success in Los Angeles, HelloTech will be expanding service to San Diego on Thursday, April 28. The company raised a $12.5M Series A round in September to fuel a rapid expansion. Bolstered by learnings from launching in Orange County last fall, HelloTech is now poised to take its new expansion playbook across the country, beginning with San Diego.
Since launching in May 2015, HelloTech has paired savvy college students, aka 'Heroes' with thousands of technology users who need in-person support. HelloTech screens and vets their Heroes, then deploys them to homes to provide support.
"Tapping into the college workforce is the best move we've made thus far," says CEO Richard Wolpert. "We get to help students through school by doing something they're comfortable with. Interestingly, we initially recruited from the local universities (UCLA, USC) but ultimately had even more success with community colleges and trade schools. In San Diego, we will of course recruit from UCSD, USD and SDSU, but will also target ITT and the local junior colleges, as those students often have a more flexible schedule than full-time university students."
Bringing the ease of the on demand economy to tech support, consumers can schedule a convenient time for their first visit through the HelloTech desktop or mobile website or by calling a toll free number. HelloTech offers service within 24 hours, and often provides same day service.
Visits are normally billed at $79 per hour, but in honor of Mother's Day, HelloTech is offering the first hour at $39 to any San Diego moms who want to learn how to use their devices better.
Founded by former Disney and Apple exec and venture capitalist Richard Wolpert, HelloTech is changing the way consumers purchase and get support for new technology by providing in-home tech support and sales of new smarthome technology on demand. Utilizing a background-checked and vetted workforce, HelloTech provides in-home support and consultation for consumers looking to manage and upgrade the technology within their home.
