BOSTON, Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, anyone in the U.S. can help feed meals to dogs and cats in shelters simply by running, walking or eating a healthy meal. This first of its kind opportunity is the result of a new partnership between Wellcoin, the creator of the World's First Health Currency, and natural pet food company Halo, Purely for Pets®. The partnership can result in up to 15,000 free bowls of nutritious food for animals housed at shelters across the nation.

To help feed hungry shelter pets, people need to create an account on Wellcoin, earn Wellcoins by doing any of the hundreds of healthy activities, and then redeem their Wellcoins for Halo pet food, which is then donated on their behalf to shelters including SPCA of Westchester County (Westchester, NY), Humane Society of Central Oregon (Bend, OR), San Francisco Animal Care and Control (San Francisco, CA), Arizona Animal Welfare League (Phoenix, AZ) or ASPCA (New York, NY).
