AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Distance & Electronic Learning Academy (DELA) has implemented a Project Based Learning model to deliver their online curriculum available to students for the 2011-12 school year in Ohio (OHDELA).

OHDELA's Project Based Learning model allows students to address community issues, explore careers, interact with adult mentors, use technology, and present their work to audiences beyond the classroom while mastering standards.  Students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem or challenge. Demanding educational projects are carefully planned, aligned to standards, managed and assessed to help students build vital workplace skills and lifelong habits of learning.

"We are dedicated to implementing the best research-based education solutions for our students.  The immediate feedback from parents has been positive for our new Project Based Learning Model," said Robert Fox, Vice President of DELA, White Hat Management. "We are confident that this will enhance the way our students learn and better prepare them for the future."

The Calvert book-based curriculum will continue to be offered by OHDELA providing a traditional home school option for families who request it.

The school programs offered by DELA are tuition-free and include the necessary computer devices, social interaction initiatives, and dedicated faculty to provide a 21st century education.
