Ontario Dominates Canadian UHNW Population Ranking

SINGAPORE, Dec. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Wealth-X, the ultra high net worth (UHNW) business development solution for Global Private Banks, Luxury Brands, Educational Institutions and Non-Profits, released a list of the top provinces in Canada ranked according to UHNW population.  

A business base for 2,210 ultra high net worth individuals (UHNWIs), Ontario emerged at the top of the list, representing 44.1% of the total Canadian UHNW population. In second place is Quebec with 1,025 UHNWIs, constituting 20.4% of the total UHNW population in Canada. Alberta is ranked third with 690 UHNWIs, representing 13.8% of Canada's total UHNW population. Rounding out the top five are British Columbia and Manitoba with 610 and 125 UHNWIs respectively.

The number of UHNWIs in the top five provinces stands at 4,660, representing 92.9% of the total Canadian UHNW population which has declined by 1.7% from a year ago to 5,015.

Commenting on the list, Wealth-X CEO, Mykolas D. Rambus said, "Despite a decrease in Ontario's total UHNW population, the manufacturing and financial services sectors continue to support its claim on the top spot."
