Ontario International Airport expects 115,000 passengers over Memorial Day weekend, 4.6% more than 2024 holiday

Increased demand for travel fueled by new and expanding service to popular U.S. and international destinations over summer

ONTARIO, Calif., May 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ontario International Airport (ONT) officials plan to welcome more than 115,000 passengers over Memorial Day weekend, a 4.6% increase compared to the same holiday weekend in 2024.

Officials anticipate Friday, May 23, and Memorial Day itself (Monday, May 26) to be the busiest days over the five-day weekend. Here are the projected daily volumes:

• Thursday, May 22 – 24,300
• Friday, May 23 – 25,315
• Saturday, May 24 – 20,396
• Sunday, May 25 – 19,552
• Monday, May 26 – 25,895.

Based on current schedules, airlines are offering more than 137,000 seats on arriving and departing flights for Memorial Day travel, 9% more than last year.

Airlines are introducing new flights or expanding existing service to a dozen destinations from ONT this summer, including Baltimore/Washington, Chicago O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, New York JFK, Salt Lake City and Seattle, as well as Taipei and four destinations in Mexico.

Ontario International expects 2.2 million air travelers over the summer, an increase of 1.7% compared with last summer.

The growth in 2025 comes on the heels of a banner year in 2024, when Ontario reported more than 7 million passengers, an increase of 10.2% over 2023 and 27% higher than pre-pandemic 2019. These achievements have made ONT the fastest-growing among medium- and large-size airports in California, and the 2024 count represented a 67% increase since 2016, when the airport was transferred to local control from the City of Los Angeles.
