Ontario International Airport passenger count approached 4.7 million over first eight months of 2026

ONTARIO, Calif., Sep 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Led by a 31% surge in international travel, Ontario International Airport (ONT) passenger volumes climbed to almost 4.7 million over the first eight months of the year—up 0.3% from the year before.

ONT served more than 450,000 international fliers during the first eight months, reflecting an increased number of flights to Taiwan and Mexico.

Southern California's Ontario International Airport reported passenger volumes of nearly 4.7 million during the first eight months of 2026.

For the month of August, the Southern California gateway welcomed 606,000 air travelers, down 6.2% from August 2025 as airlines reduced capacity due to higher fuel prices.

The air carriers with the greatest passenger shares in August were:

Southwest Airlines (35.3%)
American Airlines (12.9%)
Alaska Airlines (11.1%)
Frontier Airlines (11.0%)
Delta Air Lines (9.7%)

The recently released JD Power 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study ranked ONT highest of any California airport of any size with a score of 705 on a 1,000-point scale, the only airport in the Golden State to score above 700. Ontario International also ranked second among medium-size airports across North America.

Meanwhile, cargo volumes through ONT climbed 3.3% in August compared to a year ago, and are up 6.5% year-to-date.
