Orion Advisor Services Partners with World-Class Asset Management Firms to Launch Free Peer-to-Peer Model Marketplace 'Orion Communities'
Centralized platform empowers advisors to share and access custom model portfolios while still controlling and implementing trade execution
OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Orion Advisor Services, LLC, ("Orion") the premier portfolio accounting service provider for advisors, today announced Orion Communities, an interactive peer-to-peer exchange that allows Orion clients utilizing its Eclipse trading platform, along with other strategists, to share model portfolios with each other in an open-source platform.
Communities is the only central marketplace that enables advisors and strategists to provide insight into their own investment strategies with each other, while still maintaining full control of the trading process. Orion has partnered with world-class asset management firms Russell Investments, BlackRock, and CLS Investments, which will share their own models, portfolio building tools, market updates and commentaries with the Orion advisor community, with many being offered at zero charge for Orion clients on its Eclipse platform.

The trade review and execution is completed by the advisor consuming the models, in accordance with existing trading processes. When a strategist shares their models on Communities, they upload their agreement to the platform. The subscribing advisor interested in the models then signs off on the agreement and payment terms. Orion's system helps support payments, but the strategists are responsible for negotiating the terms and exchange of payments.
Tax loss harvesting and asset location will continue to be optimized in Orion's Eclipse, the firm's next generation platform which helps enable advisors to trade and rebalance portfolios in a tax efficient manner.
