Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Meeting Heads to California
AOFAS to welcome 750 surgeons in Long Beach
ROSEMONT, Ill., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- When the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) hosts AOFAS Annual Meeting 2015 the third week of July, 750 attendees and 500 company representatives are expected to descend on Long Beach, Calif. Along with them, many family members and guests will take part in this highly anticipated annual event.
The event will kick off July 15 with a Pre-meeting Course devoted to the treatment of ankle arthritis. From July 16-18, the full meeting will include symposia covering seven key topics in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery. Within the symposia, more than 70 scientific paper presentations will address such conditions and treatments as Achilles tendon injuries, ankle arthritis, arthroscopy, midfoot/forefoot trauma, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, total ankle replacement and much more. More than 300 ePosters will continue the learning outside of the session room.
In addition, guest speaker Kara Odom Walker, MD, MPH, MSHS, will deliver a keynote address entitled "The PCORI Research Agenda: Engaging Specialists for Better Patient Outcomes." As deputy chief science officer for the PCORI Research Institute in Washington, D.C., Odom will reinforce the Society's ongoing focus on patient-centered research and outcomes that improve care.
Special events during AOFAS Annual Meeting 2015 will include a Young Physicians Forum, a Research Forum and hands-on, industry-sponsored sessions. An exhibit hall will host more than 70 companies with products dedicated to orthopaedic foot and ankle care and treatment.
In addition to hosting sessions and events at the Long Beach Convention Center, the AOFAS will sponsor a Gala Event at the Aquarium of the Pacific.
