Osha Liang LLP: James Hopenfeld and Peter Schechter Join IP Litigation Team

HOUSTON, Dec. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- International intellectual property law firm Osha Liang LLP is pleased to announce that James Hopenfeld and Peter C. Schechter have joined the firm as partners.

Mr. Schechter will remain resident in New York while Mr. Hopenfeld brings his own boutique IP litigation practice to OL and will serve clients from Washington, D.C.

An internationally recognized intellectual property and patent litigation lawyer, Mr. Schechter has 30 years of experience representing and advising clients on a broad range of IP disputes, strategies, and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions and other technology transfers. Besides representing clients in scores of U.S. federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, he also represents clients in post-grant matters in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including ex parte and inter partes reexamination, and inter partes review proceedings. He practiced for more than two decades at Darby & Darby before spending the past seven years in the IP department of a major international general practice firm.

Mr. Hopenfeld has more than 20 years of experience as an intellectual property trial lawyer. His experience ranges from high-profile patent litigation disputes to bet-the-company litigation for start-ups and mid-size companies. He has practiced in federal and state trial and appeals courts throughout the United States, as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. During the past 10 years, Mr. Hopenfeld has taught patent enforcement as an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University Law School. Prior to joining Osha Liang, he was a partner at Fish & Neave, Ropes & Gray, and at his own boutique law firm.
