Ossia Wins 4th CES Award with Cota Forever Sleeve

BELLEVUE, Wash., Nov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ossia today launched Cota Forever Sleeve, the world's first smartphone case that wirelessly powers devices. The company debuted the Cota Forever Sleeve where it was named a CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Wireless Devices, Accessories, and Services category. Ossia has now earned a CES Innovation award honor four years in a row.

The Cota Forever Sleeve powers smartphones that are in motion, out of sight, and meters away from a Cota transmitter. It is compatible with Apple's iPhone X or equivalently-sized iPhones that have a lightning port. Forever Sleeve charges phones without plugs, wires, or pads and is safe for people, pets, and plants. The Cota Forever Sleeve opens the opportunity to retrofit millions of mobile phones with Cota Real Wireless Power. This is the first step in mass-market adoption and direct integration of Cota into mobile phones by manufactures.

Cota Forever Sleeve differs from existing charging cases because it does not require physical contact with a power source. As homes, shops, offices, and public buildings introduce wireless power, Forever Sleeves will be able to charge billions of smartphones continuously.

Forever Sleeve sports a lithium-ion battery that receives power wirelessly and supplies power to the phone's battery. This keeps the battery topped up and extends the usability period of the phone when it is away from a wireless power transmitter. Forever Sleeve also supports Qi Wireless Charging.  Cota and Qi are compatible technologies with multiple use cases that would allow for the integration of both into a device. This also allows for device manufacturers to integrate Cota while not having to diminish any previous investments in Qi.  

Wireless power providers can activate, manage, and monitor Cota Forever Sleeves from the Cota Cloud platform. Any retail shop or indoor public space could, for instance, offer power to all visitors who sign up for a loyalty program from their phone. The store could also choose to approve and power all Forever Sleeves inside a geo-fenced space automatically.
