Oswego Hospital Combines Plexus Information Systems' Anesthesia Information and Drug Management System with Codonics Safe Label System

Oswego Hospital's selection process focused on finding a solution that combines the anesthesia and pharmacy recordkeeping systems in order to eliminate duplicate documentation and to provide the clinicians with a single medication recording system.  Oswego Hospital was looking for not just an electronic record, but rather a full solution for labeling, tracking, and documenting anesthesia-delivered medications. 

Using the integrated Codonics & Plexus IS solution, a single scan of the medication vial by the clinicians will trigger an on-board formulary to confirm the medication electronically and immediately produces a full-color compliant medication label complete with a barcode for AIMS integration. Simultaneously, the medication dispense transaction is recorded, seamlessly updating Pharmacy's inventory counts and controlled substance tracking.  When anesthesia is ready to deliver the medication to the patient, a quick wave of the labeled syringe past the barcode scanner triggers documentation in Anesthesia Touch, including real-time safety checks and automated pharmacy charging.
